‘It is very sad that there were so many reasons a person could find themselves declared a lunatic and locked away in a madhouse. I think we should be extremely grateful that mental health is given much more understanding these days. The fear of being declared mad might have contributed to the way a lot of mental health issues were such a taboo subject for so long. My piece is entitled Free from Lunacy and it is my representation of how people are now more free to admit they may be struggling without fear of being locked up.’
