Each piece or item within the E 179 series has a database record which gives:

• a description of the physical appearance of the document
• the administrative purpose for which the document was created
• the date on which it was produced
• the tax or taxes to which it relates
• a list of the place-name headings contained within it

The names of any individual taxpayers contained within the document are not recorded, although the existence of such names is highlighted.
