Searching the Hospital Records Database

You can search the database by the name of the hospital OR the name of the town OR by a combination of the two.

Type the name, or part of the name in the search boxes provided (do not use wild card characters). If you are having problems, try truncating your search word (for example, try john instead of st john's to find all hospitals where this has been part of the name).

The search will match both the current hospital name and any previous names.

If a match is found, the Results screen will give you a summary list of matches. To see the full entry for a hospital, click on the Details button in the right-hand column.

The online system only allows searches on town or hospital name. More complex searches (for example, by hospital status and type, type of record and date) can be undertaken on request - please contact the Wellcome Library for more information.
