Names (left to right): Dorothy May Young (nee Robbins) and Alexander Theodore Young
Occupation(s): Alexander was a Hotel Porter
‘Dorothy and Alexander are my grandparents and we believe this is their wedding photograph. We do not know when my grandfather arrived in England from British Guiana, (now Guyana) South America but we know he served in the British West Indies Regiment and the Hampshires prior to his marriage. He and Dorothy met at the Amberley Ridge Hotel at Amberley, Gloucestershire. Note the stylish dress of the happy couple and their very shiny shoes! No doubt a legacy of Alexander’s army days, a habit he maintained all his life.’
