About Your 20sPeople gallery

The 1921 Census is an intimate record of 38 million people; each hand-written census return brings us within touching distance of our ancestors. But there are no pictures. To picture the people of the 1920s, we asked the public and local archives to send us their 1920s photographs. This gallery replicates the images displayed in our recent on site exhibition, The 1920s: Beyond the Roar.

You can also view our themed photo selections: Scenes of love and friendship and Family memories.
