Talk
Discover the life of one of the most remarkable and influential women of the Middle Ages.
By permission of the Master and Fellows of St John’s College, Cambridge
Survivor. Rebel. Conspirator. Mother and grandmother of kings.
Born into a century of conflict, Margaret Beaufort was married at the age of 12 and a mother, orphan and widow by 13. She rode the vicissitudes of the Wars of the Roses to see her only son, Henry, ascend the throne of England as the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty and helped bring about his marriage to Elizabeth of York, a union that helped heal the wounds of a bitterly divided nation.
Join historian Lauren Johnson as she brings Margaret Beaufort vividly to life.
