Little gift from Grannie

"Little gift from Grannie" by Fougasse (Cyril Kenneth Bird)

Catalogue ref: INF 3/222Links to the Catalogue

A salvage poster, illustrated with three cartoon figures of women carrying an aeroplane, a shell and a machine gun. The image shows ordinary citizens how they can make a contribution to the war effort, illustrating housewives from every generation (Note the little gift from Grannie). Fougasse did not worry about using a realistic sense of scale – the women were doing an important job contributing to the final product, rather than its constituent parts. Notes on the image indicate that only the central image was to be used for the final product.
