A head-and-shoulders shot of a soldier of the Malay Regiment, first formed in 1935, and famous for its defence of Opium Hill on February 14 1942, with 42 soldiers defending their position against the attack from the 18th Division of the Japanese Imperial Army. As with INF 3/1697, this image looks like it belongs to the series ‘Our Allies the Colonies'.
