Catalogue ref: INF 3/1697Links to the Catalogue

A head-and-shoulders shot of a uniformed African soldier of the Royal West African Frontier Force. This image looks like it belongs to the series ‘Our Allies the Colonies', launched in September 1942, when Advertiser's Weekly noted that each image gave a head-and-shoulders view of a representative of the Colonial fighting services, indicating to the public the way in which the colonies are assisting the war effort and cementing the bonds of friendship. See INF 13/213Links to the Catalogue (Piece Number 10) for an example from the series.
