1948 discussions between the US and UK relating to Kashmir.

Contains correspondence from 1948 between the newly formed United Nations and the UK and the US governments, including a personal memo from Prime Minister Clement Attlee. The correspondence discusses the facilitation of an agreement between Prime Ministers Liaquat Ali Kahn of Pakistan and Jawaharlal Nehru of India for a ceasefire in the disputed region of Kashmir and the possibility of conducting an independently monitored referendum to supersede the decision of the Maharaja of Kashmir to join India.
