About
John is a computer scientist and former member of the Systems Research Group at the University of Cambridge. His specialisms include artificial intelligence (AI), data infrastructure, digital humanities, environmental sustainability and International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF).
Research activity
John has a wealth of experience in various research projects, including electric vehicle mobility, smart city energy consumption, responsible AI, and data privacy. Additionally, he has served as a senior lecturer in computing for several years and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Beyond academia, John has managed enterprise Application Programming Interface (API) development and governance for a large organisation. His research interests encompass applied computing challenges within digital humanities, focusing on providing access to digital objects at scale through standards like IIIF and leveraging emerging technologies such as AI.
