Dear Sir,
EMPLOYMENT OF MARRIED WOMEN.
During a discussion at the last meeting of my General Committee, in connection with the unemployment question, it was alleged by one or two of the delegates that the Liquor Control Board were continuing to employ married women whose husbands were in receipt of a living wage, and I was requested to bring the matter to your notice. My Committee feel that, at a time like the present when there are such large numbers of men and women unable to obtain a livelihood, an effort should be made to do everything possible to absorb those who are now practically destitute as a result of the government decision to withdraw the Out of Work Donation.
Perhaps you will kindly bring the matter before your Advisory Committee and kindly let me hear from you in course.
                                                                               Yours faithfully,
                                                                                   (signature) Thos. F. Thompson
                                                                                     Hon. Secretary.
Sir E. Saunders,
Liquor Control Board,
Castle Street,
CARLISLE.
