Air raids: 'public warning' poster

Government 'public warning' poster, 1915.

German air raids on British towns and cities caused considerable fear and unease among the populace. This government poster, issued in 1915, gives advice on what to do and who to contact in the event of an air raid. It also provides silhouetted images of the various German and British airships and aeroplanes, so that people could better differentiate between enemy and friendly aircraft.
