Air intelligence summary

RAF 'Summary of Intelligence', 21 April 1918.

In 1918, the RAF produced a series of daily air intelligence summaries on the military situation on the Western Front. Using information gained during reconnaissance missions and the testimony of captured German airmen, they listed identified German planes and aerodromes and reported casualties in aerial combat. This particular report is significant for the information contained in the 'late news' section: the death in action earlier in the day of Germany's most famous 'air ace', Manfred von Richthofen, the 'Red Baron'.
