The F.A. cup final, 1901

Tottenham Hotspur on their way to beating Sheffield United in the replay of the 1901 F.A. cup final. Sandy Brown of Tottenham scored goals in both matches. The competition only began in February, the start being delayed because of the death of Queen Victoria.

The Times bemoaned the unattractiveness of modern professional football compared to the old amateur game, believing that the huge crowds caused tension in the play.
