Bubonic plague (page one)
In 1901 England and Wales were affected by the worldwide outbreak of bubonic plague. The disease was brought into seaports, probably by rats. Two cases were found in Cardiff in February, one of whom died, and 11 cases were reported in Liverpool, 8 being fatal. This is an extract of a report on the plague in Liverpool.
