The Yarmouth murder case

Mary Jane Bennett's murder was widely reported in the popular press and in pamphlets. The American journalist R.D. Blumenfeld recorded in his diary: 'It is remarkable to note that people of all grades of society are more interested in crime mystery - particularly the murder of a woman - than in any other topic.'
