House of Commons debates the use of concentration camps for Boer civilians, on a motion from Liberal MP David Lloyd George denouncing their management. Motion defeated by 253 to 154, with almost 50 liberal imperialists abstaining. One MP subsequently compares the camps to the 'Black Hole of Calcutta'. More on politics.
