Debate in Parliament on how the empire should be described in the new Royal Titles Act leads to a discussion of Britishness and equality of rights of 'any fellow subject…among the whole dominions of his Majesty'. Eventually Edward VII's royal title is expanded to include 'and of British Dominions beyond the Seas'. More on the British empire.
