Andrew Morton's painting shows a visit by army pensioners
from Chelsea Hospital (in red uniforms) to their naval counterparts
(in green) at Greenwich. Nine of the Greenwich pensioners in the picture
had served under Admiral Nelson at various times. Towards the right
of the painting is John Deman, a Black sailor who served with Nelson
in the West Indies. Research to identify his pension records at The
National Archives is continuing.
