After the Battle of Trafalgar had ended the British, French and Spanish ships had to contend with a raging storm. Conditions for the men were very trying, arduous and uncomfortable. This letter was sent by the men of HMS Royal Sovereign and is a rare account of their reactions and views. Officers tended to write more about their experiences and many of their accounts survive. The chief concern of the men, in this instance, is they were not given their drink rations.
