12th July

The Enemy opened a heavy fire at day light from the Town & San Francesco seldom (very extraordinary) missing our Battery, at 7 O’Clock a 26 p[ounde]r was dismounted, by Evening the Mozelle much breached, Got a 26 P[ounde]r mounted, kept firing a Gun & mortar every three Minutes-1/2 past 12 at Night a part of the Town was in flames which lasted three hours.

2 seamen 3 soldiers slightly wounded

13th July
The Enemy kept up a constant fire all day from the Town, & Struck the Battery very often.
