Extract from Nelson’s journal regarding the siege of Calvi
A copy of Nelson's journal for 10 June to 8 August 1794, which includes an account of the siege of Calvi, a land based operation - is held by The National Archives. Characteristically Nelson makes no reference in his journal entry for 12 July to the seriousness of the wound to his right eye, an injury that would trouble him for the rest of his life.
