  • Respect confidentiality and avoid sharing private or sensitive information.
  • Do not post or share any material that could be considered libellous, defamatory, or that could bring The National Archives into disrepute.
  • You must comply with the platform’s terms of service as well as UK laws governing online communication, including but not limited to the Malicious Communications Act 1988, the Communications Act 2003, and the Defamation Act 2013.

Moderation and enforcement

We reserve the right to:

  • Remove posts that violate these guidelines.
  • Block users who repeatedly breach the guidelines.
  • Report illegal content to the appropriate authorities.
  • Take legal action if necessary to protect our organisation and its community.
  • Remove content that violates UK law, including hate speech, incitement to violence will be removed, and will be reported to the authorities.
