IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN this xxi day of September 1612 and in the tenth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the fayth etc I Christopher Valyntyne of Hackney in the County of Middlesex being of full and perfecte memory prayse be to god doe make and ordaine this my last Will and testament in writing in manner and forme following
Impremis I give and bequeath unto Thomas Valyntyne my Sonne xx [pounds] whereof the one x [pounds] to be paid on the feaste day of St john Baptist next coming which shall be in the year of our Lord God 1613 And the other x [pounds] to be paide at Whitesontide then nexte following
Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Valyntyne my Daughter lx [pounds] to be paid unto hir at one monethe after hir marriage day Allways provided that she marry with hir mothers consent And that if she doe not marry with the same that then my Will is that she shall stand unto her Mothers curtesie
Item I give and bequeath unto John Pratt and Suzan Pratt my Grandchildren each of them x [pounds] to be paid unto them at the discretion of my Executrix
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Suzan Pratt the Wife of Mr Robert Pratt my blacke Nagge
Item I give and bequeath unto my Sonne in law Mr Robert Pratt vi of
my bookes which pleaseth him but excepting the worke of Mr Calvin
Item I give unto my boye Thomas Sweete xx [shillings] to be paid unto
him at the age of xxi yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto the children of Christs Hospital xl [shillings] to be paid within one moneth after my buriall
Item I give unto my twoo maydem Servants each of them vi [shillings] viii d to be paid unto them at one yeare after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto my three Overseers each of them vi [shillings] viii d towards the makinge of each of them a ring for my remembraunce
Item I give unto Mr Browne and John Banister late of Christs Hospital each of them vis[ shillings viii d for the like use
All the rest of my goods Chattlees lease bills bonds debts due or to be due I doe give and bequeath unto my deare and well beloved Wife Agnes Valyntyne whome I doe ordaine and make my whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And for the Overseers of the performance thereof I doe ordaine and appointe my lovinge
frends my brother in law John Sweet Richard Cooke and William Couse now grace be with us from God our father and from our Lord Jesus Christe Amen. by me Christopher Valentyne Sealed and Signed in the presence of us Gregory Browne and Richard Cooke
