The Great War: Conflict and Controversy

The Great War of 1914-18 was a terrible conflict. It has also been a controversial subject. Ever since the war ended, the views of ordinary people, and of expert historians, have changed. There have been arguments about how the war was fought and what it was like for the soldiers who took part in it.

As you go through this exhibition on the Great War, you should return to your work in this gallery and see whether your views on the Great War change.

The key question in this gallery is: How and why have views of the Great War changed so much?

This worksheet will help you plan your work and present your conclusions.
