HO 291/1417 ICT ad from Daily Telegraph. The police realised the potential for computers to help them in their work from the 1960s. The ability of computers to handle and search data, very fast, gave rise to the headline on this advertisement from 1968.
These sources are all quite easy to understand. As you look at them, think about: which aspect of police work will be changed? Is this technology an entirely new approach, or a new way of doing an old job? There is some evidence, too, of the attitudes of: the police (Source 2), criminals (Source 3) and the public (Source 4) to these changes.
