HO 287/1056, letter

HO 287/1056, letter. Helicopters were used occasionally by police, using RAF or Army machines. This source describes one of the more dramatic ways they helped police in 1967. Some police had their own helicopters by 2000, used more often for monitoring traffic and crowds.

These sources are all quite easy to understand. As you look at them, think about: which aspect of police work will be changed? Is this technology an entirely new approach, or a new way of doing an old job? There is some evidence, too, of the attitudes of: the police (Source 2), criminals (Source 3) and the public (Source 4) to these changes.
