JUST 1/695; an entry from the 1241
Eyre Roll. The court had to decide on all cases where someone had
died in unusual circumstances. The "first finder" is the
first person who found the dead body and that person was expected
to come to court. In this case she did not turn up, so the village
where it happened is in trouble: a good example of the court working
hard to get to the bottom of events and make sure the system was working.
What had the vill of Mongewell
done wrong?
