This striking decoration was designed by WS Coleman, [William Stephen Coleman.] This design is known as the 'Game' service pattern [Factory design/pattern number C986] This design is illustrated in Joan Jones Minton, The First Two Hundred Years of Design & Production, Swan Hill Press, 1993, page 57 where it is noted that Minton paid Coleman £25 for this design. Service C986 is listed page 321. The 'C' means that the service was made in earthenware. For another example of this designer's work see design 239642.
