Designed by Dr Christopher Dresser this abstract design is based on the idea of the force and energy in the wing of a bird in flight. See Harry Lyons, Christopher Dresser, The Peoples Designer, Antique Collectors Club, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England, 2005. plate 216. The print used for registration was folded in half and the ink has transferred itself to provide a mirror image. This mirror image has been deleted from the registration by the clerk. Dresser's design 206887 has also been mounted in the register upside down possibly reflecting how very unusual Dresser's designs were compared to other designs of the time.
