Update or add an archive

Discovery provides a single point of online access to catalogue and organisational data from across the archive sector.

You can use Discovery to find contact details of local and other archives and institutions, using the find an archive directory.

If you are an archivist or custodian of records relating to British history you can use this form to add or amend the details of your archive or institution in Discovery. Each archive requires a unique repository number which is used for ISAD(G) compliant cataloguing. In the UK, this is known as an ARCHON code and will provided to all archives requesting a Find an archive entry for the first time.

Please note that all content is available under the Open Government Licence v3.0, except where otherwise stated. If you have concerns or would like more information about this, please state this using the ‘Additional information’ box below.

For more information about Discovery, what it contains, and how you can contribute, please see our project page.
