Alec Douglas-Home 1963

Conservative Government
18 October 1963 - 16 October 1964

After Macmillan stood down, the 14th Earl of Home replaced him as Conservative Prime Minister. In order to take up the premiership, Sir Alec Douglas-Home had to renounce his peerage and win a by-election to rejoin the House of Commons. The brevity of his government meant he had little time to affect any change.
