Over the last three years The National Fairground Archive has undertaken a strategic approach to outreach, linking the archive with teaching and research at the University of Sheffield.
The acquisition of 45 boxes of material relating to the Fine Art Department at St Martin's School of Art prompted staff to explore new ways of resourcing some of its collections work and whether some of this work could be integrated with the course work offered by the college.
This was a partnership project to create an 'Eye Shakespeare' app and thereby place digital archives in marked physical locations in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Two projects (2009-2014), funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, which first, studied surviving seal impressions across Wales and second, delivered outreach and public engagements activities, all through informal and formal partnership working.
