Scoping grants

A scoping grant funds a report that incorporates expert advice on a range of areas relating to collections management and the development of your collection.

The report will provide:

  • an overview of the current status of the collection
  • analysis of its overall condition, significance, existing and potential use, levels of access, and existing documentation
  • a conclusion with recommendations about next steps and development goals for the service

The scoping grant funding scheme is a rolling programme with decisions being made on a quarterly basis.

Please note: the fund is currently heavily oversubscribed, and there is currently funding to award four scoping grants per round. We strongly advise you to contact the grant administrator, James Hodgson, at archivesrevealed@nationalarchives.gov.uk to discuss your application prior to submitting it.
