What percentage of BAME people who were stopped and searched in England in 2019 were charged with an offence as a result of the search, and what proportion of non-BAME people who were stopped and searched in 2019 were charged with an offence as a result of the search? If figures are not available in respect of 2019, please supply the information in respect of the most recent 12-month period for which figures are available.
I can confirm that The National Archives does not hold this information.
The National Archives holds records transferred from government departments between to 20 and 30 years after the records’ creation. Whilst we do hold some records concerning the historic use of stop and search powers more recent information concerning these powers will be held by either the Home Office or the Metropolitan Police Service, we therefore recommend that you redirect you request to these bodies.
Please find below the contact details of the Home Office’s and the Metropolitan Police Service’s FOI teams.
