Request
Could I request (if possible) the annualised figures for open-source (accessible) command papers (publications, reports etc.) aggregated for all .Gov departments and released on the .Gov webpage for the past 20 years (or until possible) in excel or graphical format if possible. Broadly I anticipate an upward trend, however, would like to determine the volumes of publications released annually.
If possible could the totals for each year also be included.
Outcome
No information held
Response
The National Archives holds no standing statistics on published open source/accessible Command Papers.
Command Papers are currently published at https://www.gov.uk/official-documents. This web location has been in existence since February 2014 and includes Command Papers previously published on a series of central websites now archived in the UK Government Web Archive.
Prior to gov.uk, in addition to the central website, departments would also publish Command Papers on their own websites.
As a suggested next step, The House of Commons Library may be able to provide statistics on numbers of Command Papers government has presented to Parliament. You can contact them by emailing papers@parliament.uk
