Catalogue description GEORGE ELLIOT AND CO. LTD.

This firm of wire rope manufacturers was known by the title of George Elliot and Company from 1864, having previously been known as Glass, Elliot and Company. It had its chief office in Westminster and its works first at East Greenwich and then from 1889 at Cardiff. The firm was acquired by Bruntons of Musselburgh not later than February 1931 when the 'first meeting of directors' took place.
