This catalogue covers records of pre-NHS (ie pre-1948) hospitals in Hertfordshire. It is divided into three sections: Isolation Hospitals (HI), Voluntary Hospital (HV) and Workhouse Hospitals (HW).

 

In some cases the records were previously catalogued with the reference NHS; former references are detailed in each catalogue.

Three Counties Asylum (Fairfield Hospital), run jointly by the County Council with the County Councils of Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire.
