Second Lieutenant (2/Lt) Andrews is shown attempting to remove, what he thought was a new type of fuse. Tragically the bomb exploded during the defusing process but 2/Lt Andrews was awarded the Empire Gallantry Medal for his actions. The award was subsequently amended to a George Cross.
