Convoy at sea

"Convoy at sea" by Rowland Hilder, 1939-1945

Catalogue ref: INF 3/796Links to the Catalogue

A strong image, taken from the perspective of a merchant ship, of the rest of the convoy at sea, Norwegian merchant marine flag fluttering. Note the twin-engined aircraft wrapped up on deck with the wings removed for transportation. Whilst many aircraft were shipped across the Atlantic in the early part of the war, they were later flown via the Northern part of Canada and Greenland.
