A workman's fist and forearm work the machinery in a factory. The muscled arm, symbolic of a readiness for hard physical labour, was one that was used in several poster images during the war, particularly after the entry of the Soviet Union in 1941, including in the ‘Lend a Hand on the Land' campaign, where it became a central element.
