I, the undersigned, Colquhoun Grant, Major in the 11th Regiment of the English infantry, taken prisoner of war by the French army on the 16th of April 1812, undertake on my parole of honour not to seek to escape or to remove myself from the place of my captivity without permission, and not to pass any intelligence to the English army and its allies; in fact, not to depart in any way from the duties which an officer prisoner of war on parole is honour bound to perform; and not to serve against the French army and its allies until I have been exchanged, rank for rank.
