Clearance of manuscripts for publication

These six files consist of a collection of a number of branch memoranda unregistered case files, each of which deals with a particular publication of film which was either considered for amendment by the Security Service prior to publication, or having been published came to the Service's attention. Pieces KV 4/356, 357 and 359 are in reconstituted format, while the remainder are originals.

The most significant case dealt with on these files is that of the 1946 publication of Hugh Trevor-Roper's Last Days of Hitler, since the former Secret Intelligence Service officer made extensive use of his intelligence contacts to access information about the end of Hitler's life, as documented here. The file includes a collection of interrogation reports on and statements made by witnesses to Hitler's final hours, including those of Albert Speer and Hitler's physician, Dr Morrell. This case is in KV 4/354.
