This release consists of records from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Cabinet Office, Her Majesty´s Treasury and the Inland Revenue relating to the 1956 Suez Crisis. The main story that emerges from these files is Whitehall´s concern to gather up, safeguard and release papers on Suez. Far from any cover-up, they reveal that a systematic search was conducted within government departments to collate and review all Suez-related records, many of which were not registered at the time.
