This release consists of records from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Cabinet Office, Her Majesty's Treasury and the Inland Revenue relating to the 1956 Suez Crisis. The main story that emerges from these files is Whitehall's concern to gather up, safeguard and release papers on Suez. Far from any cover-up, they reveal that a systematic search was conducted within government departments to collate and review all Suez-related records, many of which were not registered at the time.
