How do I tell you about my project?
Use our online form to add or amend new information to the Archives Portal. Those fields with an asterisk* are mandatory. If you require clarification about Keywords or Regions please click the heading in order to view the definitions.
Your Details Help
The name of the submitting officer is you. This may be different from the person responsible for the project, which can be entered under Parent Organisations and Contacts. Please include your job title or role and email address.
The action type refers to the nature of the project. Please indicate if the project is new or if you are simply amending or updating information.
Entry Details Help
The project title refers to the name of the project, resource or initiative that you are telling us about. If the project has an acronym or short form, please enter that information as well.
Please enter the website or online web address. Determine if the project is planned, ongoing or completed, and enter that information in the status field.
Projects may involve archives, libraries and/or museums. Please clarify which domain or area the project is involved with. You may select more than one domain.
Please include the year the project was initiated. In the description field, write a clear and short explanation of the project, resource or initiative.
Please select one or more appropriate keywords that describe the project. A explanation of keywords can be found in our glossary of terms.
The region field should indicate the area where the project, resource or initiative originated. The regions fall into four main groups:
- International: use this when a resource, project or initiative relates to one or more countries in addition to the United Kingdom
- United Kingdom: use this when a resource, project or initiative relates to all four home countries
- England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland: use this when a resource, project or initiative relates to one or more of the home countries, but not to all four, the relevant country names are used. For example, if England and Wales are covered but not Scotland and Northern Ireland, both England and Wales should be noted in the region field
- East Midlands of England, East of England, London, North East of England, North West of England, South East of England, South West of England, West Midlands of England, Yorkshire and the Humber: use this when a resource, project or initiative relates to one or more of the English regions, but not to England as a whole, the name of the appropriate region or regions will be noted. The English regions correspond to the areas covered by each of the nine Museum, Library and Archive Councils
Resultant Publications Help
If a publication has resulted from the project, resource or initiative you are telling us about, please give us some details. Indicate the publication title, relevant author(s), any references, and the ISBN (International Standard Book Number).
Parent Organisations and Contacts Help
Please submit the name of all relevant organisations involved in the project, resource or initiative. Provide us with the website of the organisation and include a contact name, the person who can be approached with questions regarding the project.
There is sufficient space to include up to two organisations.
Funding Organisations Help
The funding organisation is the body that is responsible for financial support of the project, resource or initiative. Please provide the full organisation name, their website and the grant amount that was awarded.
