TENEDOS 24th. 4am Arrived TENEDOS. waited for weather.  
    6pm Transferred to H.M.S. EURYALUS. Strength of Batt[alio]n landing 25 officers & 918 other ranks.  
GALLIPOLI PENINSULA 25th. 4am Transferred to ships boats & rowed to landing place on beach between C. HELLES & TEKKE BURNU App.1X
orders for landing.
    5.30am Landed under Heavy fire from machine guns & rifles from cliffs. Heavy casualties.  
    9am Several men hit in boats & in water before getting ashore. Barbed wire entanglement near water's edge.  
    9am In possession of 114 hill & adjacent redoubts. Dispiritions reported to B.G.C.  
    10am ESSEX Regt. reinforced on our right. Asked for information re Roy. Muns. Fus. landing.
C Co[mpan]y. I.L.F. in Redoubt North of hill 114. D Coy. I.L.F. just South of hill 114.

    3.45pm Ordered to make good spur 200 c2 2.N. keeping connection with troops on hill 138.  
    5pm C Coy I.L.F. connected up with 2. Royal Fus. & entrenched on their right. D. Coy. I.L.F. on right of C Coy, on a line 600 yards North of hill 114.
Heavy firing all night on our left flank.
 
  26th 6am Firing continued all morning. Collected A & B Coys who had gone to hill 138 in accordance with orders issued by B[riga]de. Reorganised Battalion. Strength 15 officers & 411 other ranks.  
    5pm Position Turks retired towards ACHI BABI.

26th   Positions on night of 26/27 April.  
      North East from SITIL BAHR - I Co. HANTS. & 1 Co. R. DUB. FUS.  
      OLD CASTLE to Single Tree - 4 Cos. R. MUNS. FUS.
Thence to L in HOSPITAL up to No 2 Redoubt exclusive. WORC. Regt.
Redoubt No. 2 to ROYAL SCOTS - ESSEX Regt.
From R. SCOTS, 2 Cos. HANTS then 1 LAN. FUS. & R. FUS. to cliff edge.
 
  27th   Firing from Turks on left of our position.  
    8am Turks withdrew. All quiet & patrols in front line for 1 mile.  
    2pm 2 Battns. 175 Regt. of French Inf[antr]y. landed & joined our forces.  
    4pm Battn. left trenches & put in Divisional Reserve with R. Fus. R. DUB. FUS. & R. MUNS. FUS.  
  28th 8am Ordered to move forward & occupy trenches dug on night of 27th/28th April on line point 236, N.E. of ESSI HISSARLIK to mouth of stream in square 168
On arrival at trenches ordered to move forward with Divl. Reserve, go through 88 Infy Bde. & carry on attack to KRITHIA.

    1pm Attack ordered by Bde. Major to push on through small fir wood. Turks retired in small numbers from opposite slope. App. XI orderS for pushing on attack

GALLIPOLI
PENINSULA
28th   Turks fired heavily all the afternoon. No change in situation.  
      Owing to retirement of French troops on our right flank, the advanced line of the attacking troops could not hold their forward position in small fir wood about 1000 yards S.W. of KRITHIA.  
 
29th 4am 1 LAN. FUS. was ordered to entrench in square 175Z ?2-6.
Lt Col. WILLIAMS HANTS Regt. took over command of 86 Inf. Bde.
 
  2pm The line of trenches was straightened out & the 1 LAN. FUS. entrenched on a line 176 V 4-8.  
 
30th   No change in situation. Effective strength of Battn. 11 officers 354 men. 1 medical officer. 1 Interpreter. 1 (?) Sergt.
