Act concerning artificers and labourers, 1514
With the demise of the feudal system, working conditions and levels of pay required regulation and were periodically addressed by Parliament. This Act of Parliament of 1514 concerns the wages of artificers (craftsmen) and labourers and also their hours of work. Of particular interest is the stipulation regarding sleeping during the day.
