Alberta Wood
Alberta Wood
From 1869, the Home Office and Scotland Yard had promoted a criminal records system, making increasing use of photography. By 1901, local police forces regularly photographed criminals. These albums have not always survived, but where they have, they will usually be found in local record offices. This is the police photograph of Alberta Wood, found guilty of theft on several occasions.
