Dr Johnson's Will
| Dr Samuel Johnson, the famous dictionary-writer, left a legacy to
Francis Barber, his 'negro' servant. Barber, a very trusted
servant, was responsible for preserving Johnson's manuscripts
for posterity (even though Dr Johnson expressed a wish that his writings
